The story of this place
Barangaroo Reserve's reconstructed headland gives photographers a less-visited but compelling angle on the Harbour Bridge from the west. The restored native planting of banksias, grevilleas and coastal scrub frames the bridge arch in a composition that recalls pre-colonial Sydney. Sunset from the upper terraces produces warm backlit shots of the bridge, with the city towers glowing behind. The lower sandstone foreshore provides a platform for wide water-level compositions. The area between the northern boundary and the heritage sandstone cutting features rock engravings and photogenic Aboriginal cultural elements.
