The story of this place

The walk from Bundeena ferry wharf to Jibbon Head takes 45 minutes and rewards with one of the most dramatic seascape compositions on the NSW coast. The headland's sandstone platform juts into the Pacific with rock pools, sea caves and exposed geology providing endless foreground interest. Aboriginal rock engravings of marine animals are carved into the flat platform — these can be photographed respectfully from a standing position without touching. The cove south of the headland is perfectly sheltered for long-exposure waterfall-smooth seascapes. A 10-stop ND filter transforms the crashing waves into cotton-wool sea mist.
