The story of this place
Cape Tribulation was named by Captain Cook in 1770 when his ship ran aground on the reef offshore — 'tribulation' indeed. The beach is the northernmost accessible coastal point in the Daintree, where ancient rainforest grows right to the high-tide line on a coral sand beach. The composition of dense green rainforest meeting turquoise reef water is unique in Australia. The Kulki Boardwalk through the coastal forest provides elevated views over the beach and reef flats. Myall Beach to the south offers a more isolated composition. The Alexander Lookout provides an elevated panorama of the entire coastline.
