The story of this place

Floriade is Australia's largest flower festival, held annually in Commonwealth Park on the north shore of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. Each spring (September–October), over one million flowers — tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies and ranunculus — are planted in elaborate themed garden beds across the park. The festival provides extraordinary macro photography of individual blooms and wide-angle landscape compositions of the colourful garden patterns. The lake provides a reflective foreground for compositions including both the flower beds and the city skyline. NightFest evenings illuminate the gardens with spectacular lighting installations. The festival has been running since 1988 and attracts over 400,000 visitors annually.
