The story of this place

Jenolan Caves contains some of the most spectacular cave formations in the Southern Hemisphere, with 11 illuminated showcaves open to the public. The Orient Cave is renowned for its cathedral-like Carlotta Arch, while Lucas Cave features massive columns and flowstone rivers. A tripod is essential — the illumination is dramatic but low for photography. The Grand Arch, a massive natural limestone arch 50 metres high and 20 metres wide, is accessible free of charge and provides extraordinary architectural photography opportunities at dawn and dusk. Macro photography of cave formations reveals extraordinary crystal structures invisible to the naked eye.
