The story of this place

London Bridge (renamed London Arch after its partial collapse in 1990) was once a double-span natural arch accessible by foot. The outer span collapsed without warning on 15 January 1990, leaving two tourists stranded on the outer stack for 3 hours before rescue by helicopter. The remaining arch provides one of the most dramatic seascape compositions on the Great Ocean Road. The natural arch frames the Southern Ocean perfectly. Sunset illuminates the limestone in warm gold, and the arch creates a natural leading line into the composition. The viewing platform sits directly above the formation.
