The story of this place

Megalong Valley is one of the most peaceful and photographically rewarding landscapes in the Blue Mountains, a farming valley 600 metres below the Katoomba plateau accessible via the steep Megalong Road. Morning fog fills the valley floor in cooler months, creating a dreamlike pastoral scene with horses grazing above the mist layer and sandstone cliffs rising behind. Heritage horse stations and cedar cottages add to the timeless composition. The valley is most photogenic from elevated positions along the valley walls rather than the floor. The Medlow Bath and Narrow Neck areas above provide elevated western views into the valley at sunset.
