The story of this place
The Tangalooma Wrecks on Moreton Island are a group of 15 vessels deliberately scuttled between 1963 and 1984 to create a breakwater and dive site. The rusted hulls rise from the crystal-clear Moreton Bay waters, providing extraordinary underwater photography subjects colonised by coral and marine life. From above water, the wrecks create a dramatic silhouette against sunset skies. The wrecks are accessible by snorkelling (water depth 2–10 metres) or by glass-bottom boat tour from Tangalooma Resort. The island itself has wild dolphin feeding programs at sunset.
