The story of this place
The Remarkable Rocks are a cluster of weathered granite boulders perched atop a granite dome within Flinders Chase National Park on the south coast of Kangaroo Island. The rocks have been sculpted by wind, rain and ocean spray over approximately 500 million years into extraordinary shapes reminiscent of Henry Moore sculptures. The surrounding granite platform provides a dramatic foreground for the boulders against the Southern Ocean. Sunset produces warm golden light on the orange-lichen-covered granite. The nearby Admirals Arch — a natural rock arch — provides an additional composition. Access requires a 30-minute walk from the car park.
