The story of this place

Sydney Town Hall has been the city's civic headquarters since 1889, built in grand Victorian Second Empire style from local sandstone. But the real showstopper is inside: the Centennial Hall houses one of the world's largest pipe organs, with over 8,700 pipes. The instrument is so massive it fills the entire space. Free lunchtime concerts let anyone walk in and hear this musical monster in action—a beautiful sound in a beautiful room, and it won't cost you a cent.
