The story of this place
The Strand Arcade is Sydney's last remaining Victorian shopping arcade—the others were demolished. Opened in 1892 and named after London's Strand, it features a vaulted glass roof, intricate iron lacework, and original tiles from the period. When other similar buildings were being torn down in the name of progress, this one survived. Today, walking through feels like stepping into 1892—glass roof above, period tiles below, and boutique fashion that somehow fits right in. It's a time machine that sells dresses and jewelry.
