The story of this place

Wilsons Promontory National Park occupies the southernmost tip of mainland Australia and contains some of Victoria's most dramatic coastal and mountain landscapes. The granite peaks of Mount Oberon (554m) rise directly from the ocean, creating compositions unique in Victoria. Tidal River's sweeping beach with Norman Bay and the granite boulders provides the most photographed composition. Squeaky Beach's white quartz sand produces extraordinary sound effects. The park is home to wombats, kangaroos, emus and over 180 bird species. The overnight hike to Sealers Cove or Refuge Cove provides wilderness landscape photography opportunities unavailable on day trips.
